The 24th annual National Geographic Traveler Photo Contest is here! The contest runs from April 5 to June 28, with an entry fee of $15. For those procrastinators out there, we’ve extended the deadline until July 11 with an increase of $10 per entry. We are accepting digital entries online in any of these four categories: Travel Portraits; Outdoor Scenes; Sense of Place; and Spontaneous Moments. Enter today!

First Prize: One First Prize will be awarded. The First Prize consists of:
(1) a 10-day Galápagos Photography Expedition with National Geographic Expeditions for the winner and one (1) guest;

(3) the winning image will be featured on the National Geographic Traveler photo contest website; and
(4) a one-year subscription to National Geographic Traveler magazine.

The First Prize Expedition will include meals, sightseeing, and other items as described in the catalog description of the Expedition, and travel must be completed by December 31, 2013. If First Prize winner is unavailable to travel on the specified dates, then the prize will be forfeited. Winner and his/her travel companion are responsible for getting themselves to/from the Expedition departure/end point at Guayaquil, Ecuador, at their own expense. Approximate Retail Value (“ARV”) of the First Prize is US$11,000. Third Prize: One Third Prize will be awarded. The Third Prize consists of:
(1) Admission to a National Geographic Traveler Seminar of his/her choice ;

Do you always take photos when travelling? If you do, you must share them with us!

Discover Europe 2012 is already the ninth opportunity to, together with Erasmus Student Network , broaden your horizons through a direct contact with photography. This extraordinary photo contest is meant to select the best pictures showing Poland and other European countries, sent in by the students from all over the Europe! Students from all over Europe will be sending photos in three categories:

1 Citizen of Europe – showing various images of Europeans

2 My Europe, my Home – pictures of interesting places and landscapes in Europe

3 Surprise me Europe! – photos of amusing or intriguing situations that took place in Europe

In each category there are three valuable prizes to win:

600 Euros for the first place, 300 Euros for the second place and 100 Euros for the third place. In addition, there will be prizes for winners of regional stages!

The competition consists of two stages: of local national and international stages, and the central stage.

The local stages are organized in each Polish voivodeship and in every European country. University workgroups are responsible for organizing the promotion of the contest together with an exhibition of the works which have been submitted and they also have to choose the best pictures, which will then be sent to the central stage.

The photographs submitted by international students will be rated by a jury of international photographers and other experts from artistic community. The best pictures will then proceed to the final stage.

The final stage will determine the winners. A jury made up of academic representatives, students and photographers will gather and select the most impressive pieces of work.

How you see Hungary – What you see as Hungarian? Open call for photo and video competition

Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design Budapest (MOME) and Európa Pont – the new EU information and cultural centre invite you to participate in a photo and video competition if you think you have a flair for photography, film or graphic design.

We were wondering how you might capture the essence of „Magyarness“ that surrounds you day by day. If you can show us your best visual impression of this „Magyarness“ do not hesitate to send us that picture or video, even an animation. But try to stay away from stereotypes; we want your unique insight, not a person spooning down Gulyás soup next to his Rubik’s cube in the puszta.

Your entry can be as abstract or as literal as you please in your chosen medium as long as it tells us something about what captured your imagination in Hungary the most, what you came to recognize as Magyarness.

The entries for the video competition will be judged by film director György Pálfi, screenwriter, producer Viktória Petrányi and József Fülöp senior lecturer of MOME animation. The photo entries will be judged by photographer and cinematographer Tamás Dobos, independent curator Sári Stenzel and Ábel Szalontai senior lecturer of MOME photo. There will be 4 categories in the competition, but we are positive that your artwork will relate to one of these. If you do not have a solid idea yet, let the following inspire you.

Hungary is full of Hungarians. Life in Hungary consists of many things that are Hungarian. And many things that are European. Show us differences and similarities! Show us the extraordinary in the trivial!

The Hungarian Heart

Hungarians fancy themselves warm-hearted, with deep feelings they are not afraid to express. Any observations you like to share? Are they as hospitable as they say? Romantic outbursts on public transport? Volunteering? Conversations in coffeehouses deeper than you ever imagined? And the questions keep on coming.

Group entries are welcome and if you wish to explore or demonstrate a subject through a series you are more than welcome to do so as well. And do surprise us; we are open to all the creative ideas you can show us in whatever form.

Winning entries will be exhibited at Európa Pont and at one of the biggest summer festivals in Budapest. The main prize is a trip to the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (travel expenses and accreditation).

We hope the artworks that will be generated by this open call will start a dialogue and enrich ideas about Hungary and invite all to view everyday things as unique, interesting, and culturally significant.

A Pályázat háttere: 1335-ben Visegrádban tartották a cseh, lengyel és magyar királyok találkozóját, ahol a tárgyalások e három nép megbékéléséről és együttműködéséről szóltak. Több mint 650 évvel később, 1991. február 15-én ugyanebben a városban írták alá cseh, szlovák, lengyel és magyar magas rangú képviselők e négy ország együttműködéséről szóló megállapodást, kifejezték elkötelezettségüket a térség regionális együttműködésének ápolása iránt a három
(később négy) közép-európai országban, erősítve ezzel a közép-kelet európai regionális identitást. Ez a dokumentum lett az alapja a visegrádi négyek együttműködésének.
A Kárpátok Alapítvány Visegrádi régió kilátásai című projektje elsősorban a Kárpátok régióban működő közösségfejlesztéssel foglalkozó non-profit szervezetek közötti együttműködések kialakítására törekszik. Célja bemutatni, hogy ezen szervezetek működésének milyen hatásai lettek az adott országban. A Visegrádi négyek képekben című Fotópályázat is ennek a projektnek a része.
A fotópályázat célja, bemutatni a Visegrádi országok egyedülálló látnivalóit és a régióban működő helyi szintű együttműködéseket.

Pályázati kategóriák:
1. kategória: FELEJTHETETLEN VISEGRÁD – a Visegrádi országok történelmi, földrajzi vagy kulturálisan egyedülálló látnivalóinak bemutatása
2. kategória: VISEGRÁDI EGYÜTTMŰKÖDÉS – a Visegrádi országokban élő emberek együttműködésének pillanatai

A pályázat két korcsoportban kerül megrendezésre:
· 1. korcsoport: 0-tól 18 éves korig
· 2. korcsoport: 18-tól 30 éves korig

Nyeremény:
Az első helyezettek kategóriánként és korcsoportonként 100 euró díjazásban részesülnek. A második és harmadik helyezettek kiadványokat nyernek a Visegrádi régió országairól. A legjobb képek kiállításra kerülnek.
A pályázat nyerteseinek kihirdetésére és a díjátadó ünnepségre 2011. június 10-én az Optima bevásárlóközpontban Kassán (Szlovákiában), a Civil Szervezetek Színes Városa elnevezésű program keretén belül kerül sor. A kiutazás és kint tartózkodás költségeit a Kárpátok Alapítvány fedezi.

A pályázat részvételi feltételei:
- A pályázat nyitott, magyarországi gyermekeknek és legfeljebb 30 éves korú fiataloknak szól
- Csak amatőr fotósok pályázhatnak
- A részvétel ingyenes
- Kizárólag Magyarországon, a pályázó által készített képek vehetnek részt a pályázaton (ezzel egyidőben a visegrádi országok mindegyikében meghirdetésre kerül a pályázat)
- A pályázóknak minden fotóhoz ki kell tölteniük a pályázati űrlapot, mely elérhető a www.karpatokalapitvany.hu címen, illetve beszerezhető a pályázati kapcsolattartótól e-mailben (norbert.havasi@cfoundation.org).
- Egy pályázó maximum 5 képpel nevezhet. Pályázni fekete-fehér és színes képekkel lehet.
A beküldhető fotók paraméterei:
· kizárólag jpg és jpeg fájlok küldhetők be
· a felbontás minumum 3 MP
- A fotókat kizárólag CD-n vagy DVD-n, digitális formában fogadjuk.
- Beküldési határidő: 2011. május 20-ig, a Kárpátok Alapítvány – Magyarország (3300, Eger Mekcsey u. 1) címre. A határidő után postára adott pályázatokat nem áll módunkban elfogadni.
A pályamunkákat nemzetközi szakmai zsűri értékeli 2011. június 1-ig. Kategóriánként és korcsoportonként 1-3 helyezettig kerülnek díjazásra a fotók, továbbá a zsűri kiválasztja a díjátadó gálán (az Optima bevásárlóközpontban Kassán, Szlovákiában) megnyitásra kerülő fotókiállítás képeit is. A fotókiállítás ezt követően a visegrádi országok mindegyikében megrendezésre kerül.
- Az eredmények nyilvánosságra hozatala legkésőbb 2011. június 7-ig megtörténik

Szerzői jog, a felhasználási jog terjedelme:
A pályázatra csak olyan képek nevezhetők, amelyeket a pályázó maga készített. A pályázat kiírói a benyújtott fotók felett az alábbiakban részletezett felhasználási jogát megszerzik: A kiírók a fotókat változatlan formában jogosultak felhasználni (az átméretezés nem minősül változtatásnak). A kiírók nem jogosultak a fotókra harmadik személynek felhasználási jogot adni.
A pályázat kiíróinak felhasználási joga nem kizárólagos, tehát a pályázó a fotókat továbbra is szabadon felhasználhatja, és rendelkezhet velük. A pályázó szavatol azért, hogy az átadott fotók felhasználása semmilyen akadályba nem ütközik, a fotók jogtiszták, senki felhasználási-, kiadói-, személyiségi jogát nem sértik. A pályázó a fentiekért teljes körű felelősséget vállal, és helytáll bármilyen utóbb felmerült jogdíjigényért vagy egyéb követelésért. A pályázó neve a honlapokon, marketingeszközökön szerzőként lehetőség szerint feltüntetésre kerül. A pályázó utóbb a neve feltüntetésének elmaradása miatt semmiféle igénnyel nem élhet. A felhasználási jog fentiek szerinti átadásáért a pályázót külön díjazás nem illeti meg.

Egyéb feltételek:
A Kiírók a beérkezett fotókat előzsűrizik, és az általánosan elfogadott szakmai követelményeknek nem megfelelő, valamint a jogszabályba ütköző, a közízlést vagy a közerkölcsöt sértő tartalmú képeket a versenyből kizárják.
Érvénytelen az a pályázat, amelynek nevezési lapja hiányos vagy valótlan adatokat tartalmaz.
A Kiírók fenntartják a jogot a pályázati feltételek megváltoztatására, amiről a módosítás a www.karpatokalapitvany.hu honlapon történő közzétételével értesítik az érintetteket.
A nyertesek nevét a Kiírók az eredményhirdetésen közzéteszik.
A Kárpátok Alapítvány – Magyarország kötelezi magát, hogy a személyes adatokat harmadik személynek nem adja tovább. A pályázat védnökei: Magyarország canberrai nagykövetsége és Ausztrália budapesti nagykövetsége. A pályázat célja, hogy az utazás közben szerzett vizuális élményeket minél többen megörökítsék, és egy fotókiállítás keretében másoknak is bemutathassák. 2011-ben azokat a felvételeket várjuk, amelyek az elmúlt öt esztendőben Ausztráliában, Új-Zélandon a csendes-óceáni szigeteken készültek. Ezekből – kellő mennyiség és minőség esetén – kiállítást tervezünk Ausztráliában, Új-Zélandon és Magyarországon, illetve fotóalbumot jelentetünk meg.

Részvételi feltételek

1. A fotópályázaton amatőr fotósok részvételét várjuk életkortól, foglalkozástól és lakóhelytől függetlenül. Részvételre biztatjuk azokat a turistákat, akik bel- és külföldi útjaik során sokat fényképeztek, de még sohasem jutott eszükbe nyilvánosság előtt szerepelni az eredetileg családi fotóalbumokba szánt fényképekkel.
2. A pályázat témája kötetlen. Műemlékfotók, portrék, eseményfotók, tájképek, természet- és állatfotók, városképek, makro-felvételek, hangulatképek, stb. egyaránt beküldhetők, függetlenül attól, hogy Ausztrália, Új-Zéland vagy a csendes-óceáni szigetek mely pontján készültek.
3. Szerzőnként beküldhető maximum 10 digitális vagy digitalizált felvétel JPG formátumban. A fotók hosszabbik oldala 2000 pixel legyen, terjedelme pedig ne haladja meg 2-3 Mb-ot. Minden felvétel file-neve a pályázó CsaládneveKeresztneve egybeírva, majd a kép rövid (egy-két szavas) címe. A családnév előtt semmilyen más karakter ne szerepeljen, mert az lehetetlenné teszi az automatikus rendezést. A kép utómunkálata csak az eredeti élmény vizuális hangsúlyát emelheti ki (színkorrekció, kontraszt, fényerő, kivágás), de nem változtathat tartalmán. Fantáziakép nem pályázhat.
4. A pályaműveket e-mailben lehet beküldeni – minden képet külön csatolva mellékletként – az ausztralia2011@gmail.comEzt a címet a spamrobotok ellen védjük. Engedélyezze a Javascript használatát, hogy megtekinthesse. címre. Egy küldemény terjedelme – a mellékletekkel együtt – ne legyen nagyobb, mint 15 Mb. Ha szükséges, akkor a képek több levél mellékleteként küldendők. Óriásleveleket, becsomagolt állományokat nem fogadunk.
5. A pályázatra csak olyan felvételeket nevezhetnek a szerzők, amelyek a korábbi „Utazás a világ körül – 2009 – Ausztrália és az „Utazás a világ körül – 2010 – Ausztrália és Új Zéland” c. fotókiállításon még nem szerepeltek.
6. A pályázóknak nevezési lapot kell kitölteniük számítógéppel, amelyet a szervezők bocsátanak az érdeklődők rendelkezésére. A nevezési lapon szereplő információk egyezzenek a fényképek címében feltüntetett leírással. A nevezési lap 2010. december 15-étől letölthető a www.mmikl.hu oldalról. A nevezési lap aláírás nélkül is beküldhető, mert a képek beküldésével jelzi a pályázó, hogy elfogadja a pályázati feltételeinket.
7. Díjazás: 1-5. díj: 5.000 – 5.000 Ft értékű fotóművészeti album és oklevél.

UNWTO is happy to announce the 2010 World Tourism Day online photo competition under the theme Tourism & Biodiversity.

What kind of photos are we looking for?
There is a direct link between biodiversity and tourism with areas of unique natural beauty attracting large numbers of visitors. Biodiversity is thus one of tourism’s greatest assets and fundamental to its long-term sustained growth. But, tourism can also be an important means to assure biodiversity conservation.

We are looking for pictures that capture the close relationship between biodiversity and tourism. Photos that reflect the value of biodiversity for tourism and/or the contribution of tourism in protecting and sustainably managing biodiversity.
Who can participate?
The World Tourism Day online photo competition is open to all people of all ages.

One entry per person. Photo must have been taken in 2009-2010. Send e-mail entries to travelphotos@washpost.com. Photos should be JPEG or TIFF attachments, between 1MB and 10MB in size. Include caption information and when the photo was taken, plus your name, address and phone number, and put the photo topic (e.g., “Scotland rainbow”) in the subject line.

If sending by conventional mail, attach a sticker or notecard with your name, contact info and a detailed caption to the back of the photo (please do not send loose sheets of paper). In celebration of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the Beijing People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries is joining with other governmental departments to host “Beijing in the Eyes of Foreigners,” a photo contest featuring work from foreign photographers working in China or other parts of the world, from March to July 2009.

This event is organized by the Beijing People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, Foreign Affairs Office of Beijing Municipal People’s Government, Information Office of Beijing Municipal People’s Government, Beijing Municipal Commission of Education and Beijing Association of Enterprises with Foreign Investment.

The theme of the contest is “The New Face of Beijing.” It aims to give people from outside China an opportunity to better understand Beijing, its charms and, in particular, its changes. The Organizing Committee will accept submissions of photographic work exploring the “new” aspects of Beijing in everything from travel and recreation, to life and work in Beijing. All foreigners who have lived or travelled in Beijing are welcome to enter the contest.

Photos will be judged by a select experts’ committee, with the best photos receiving awards as follows: 15,000 yuan each for two Grand Prize winners; 5,000 yuan each for five Runners-Up winners; 3,000 yuan each for 10 Third Place winners; and 500 yuan each for 33 winners of an honourable mention. Prize winners will be invited to take part in a press event for the contest in Beijing, and will be presented with a special collection of the prize-winning photos.

Submission of images to the contest will be taken as a tacit approval for the publication and display of the images received. Information and promotional materials for the contest will be released through print media. At the conclusion of the contest, the Organizing Committee will hold an exhibition of top photos in Beijing, in addition to publishing them in a book.

The deadline for submissions to the Beijing in the Eyes of Foreigners photo contest is July 10，2009. Participants should note the following:

1. Entries can be black and white or colour images, and may be submitted either electronically or as prints. Group entries are limited to four (4) photos. Digital photos in the JPG (Jpeg) format should be no smaller than 500 kb (kilobytes) in size.

2. Submitted print images should be 10 inches along their longest edge and un-mounted.

3. Digital photos should be delivered as high-resolution files (no less than 18 MB (megabytes) each), burned on a CD or DVD. The entries can be submitted by e-mail, mail or may be dropped off at the registration office of the Organizing Committee. Please write “Photo Contest: Beijing in the Eyes of Foreigners” on the front of the envelope. While the Organizing Committee will do its utmost to care for images submitted to them, it is not responsible for damages or loss incurred during the mailing or handling process. The entries will not be returned to the participants after the event. The Organizing Committee reserves the right to make final decisions about any aspect of the photo contest or its rules.
